It is an ancestral home built between 1578 and 1606 by Feliu Duran, who was the king’s man and the jury of Consell de la Vila. He was a featured man in the village. Casa Duran mixes manorial elements with the typical features of a country house, and although it was renovated in the 18th century, it still preserves its original structure. On the first floor, which is where the Duran family inhabited, one may find the household rooms, among which there is a noble room, a library and several chambers containing pictorial decorations on the walls and the ceiling. The ground floor, aimed to carry out economic activities related to agriculture and dyes, consists of a great hall, a courtyard with stairs and a splendid cellar containing wine barrels, a wine press and the pits where grapes were crushed. It is a protected legacy asset since 1958 and it is regarded as a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional (a category of the heritage register in Spain).
It is possible to visit its external part except on certain days, as well as to schedule visits for groups or schools by contacting Sabadell’ History Museum.
